Donn began calling in Sacramento, California in 1966 but has performed in several metro areas. These include Denver, Colorado and Fairbanks, Alaska and in San Jose, California for 25 years. Donn currently resides in Paradise, California but travels throughout the north state to call for church organized gatherings, corporate events, private parties, and an occasional unusual celebration.
Donn has worked with youthful Square Dancers of all ages. For eight years he called weekly for the Silver Buckles of San Jose, a teen and pre-teen Square Dance Club. He found the rewards from that experience to be life long in duration. Both of Donn’s children were club members at the time making it a truly family activity. For thirteen years Donn called to the spirited Bachelors ‘N’ Bachelorettes of San Jose. The experience granted Donn inspiration and taught him lessons of how we can all enjoy energetic and fulfilling lives at any age. Many of the club’s dancers had been members for most of the club’s 40 years.
As a member of Callerlab, Donn strongly believes in the ethics, mission, and vision that the organization espouses. Square Dancing has enriched Donn’s life for over four decades and his ongoing effort is to give back what he has so generously received.
